Untucked: All Stars is the access-all-areas pass to the drama that you
didn't see on the runway. See what happens behind the scenes when the
queens let their tucks breathe... and let their emotions flow.
The second season of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars premiered on the Logo network on a new night; Thursday, August 25, 2016. Returning judges include RuPaul, Michelle Visage, and Carson Kressley, while the space previously occupied by Ross Matthews has been filled by Todrick Hall. Cast members were announced on June 17.[1] This season will feature ten All-Star contestants, selected from the show's second season through to its seventh season, who will compete to be inducted into the "Drag Race Hall of Fame".
A new twist was revealed for this season changing the format of the
show. In previous seasons, the bottom two queens had to "Lip-sync for
their Life" to avoid elimination. This season has the top two performing
queens of the challenge "Lip-sync for their Legacy", with the winner of
the lipsync earning $10,000 and choosing which one of the bottom queens
gets eliminated. The prizes for the winner are a one-year supply of
Anastasia Beverly Hills cosmetics and a cash prize of $100,000.
Once the mini-challenge is done, the girls are introduced to their
main challenge: a Talent Show. The girls get ready for their acts, as
well as get in drag. Before the acts start performing, RuPaul makes her
entrance walk on the main stage, where she introduces judges Michelle
Visage, Carson Kressley, Todrick Hall, and special guest Raven Symoné.
The talent show starts off with Adore Delano, singing an original song,
then moves along the girls (see list above) until ending with Tatianna
who performs a spoken word act. The queens are then critiqued on the
main stage after their performances. Alyssa Edwards, Detox and Katya are
declared safe. Afterwards, Adore is harshly criticized by Michelle
Visage on her performance but also and mostly on her outfit, which
leaves the queen feeling vulnerable. Phi Phi is criticized for giving a
underwhelming performance but the opinions about her outfit are
polarized. Coco Montrese is judged on her performance and outfit as
well, therefore all three of them are in the bottom three. Roxxxy
Andrews, Tatianna, and Alaska are all praised on their performances and
runway looks while Ginger Minj is criticized on her outfit and her song
choice but complimented on her voice. Therefore, Ginger and Alaska are
declared safe and Roxxxy and Tatianna pronounced top two of the week's
challenge
The plotwist is then revealed to the girls; the two queens who scored
the highest will have to Lipsync For their Legacy, rather then for
survival in the competiton. RuPaul reveals that the reason why she will
not be eliminating queens is because she's going to give the winner of
the lipsync the right to do it herself in addition to giving them
$10,000. Before the lipsync begins, the girls have time to talk in the
Werk Room (this passage replaces the Untucked series that usually airs
after an episode of RuPaul's Drag Race). Roxxxy pulls aside each of the
bottom three girls and asks them how they feel. First, she takes Phi
Phi; she breaks down and states she does not believe she should go
because she has so much more to prove, which Roxxxy agrees. Adore is
then pulled aside; she states she forgot what it felt like to be broken
down and vulnerable in front of people judging her, which makes her have
an emotional moment and tell Roxxxy that she does not belong in the
competition, a point that Roxxxy disagrees with. Coco is finally pulled
aside and gets emotional as well. Roxxxy and her go way back and the
former fears she might lose a friendship by picking Coco but the latter
claims she still has something to prove in the competition. At last, we
can see Detox talking to Adore, because the young queen is breaking down
again and saying she doesn't belong there once more, then she describes
herself as a drag musician that wears t-shirts and not a drag queen who
wears gowns. Detox, like Roxxxy, disagrees and thinks Adore is a very
powerful queen.
Tatianna and Roxxxy then share their lipsync to Taylor Swift's "Shake
It Off" once they are called to the main stage. Roxxxy wins and
therefore earns the cash prize and the power to send home the girl she
picked. After a brief speech, Roxxxy eliminates Coco Montrese, hence
leaving Adore and Phi Phi safe. While the queens enjoy their "Let The
Music Play" moment, during Coco's goodbye speech, RuPaul pops up on the
Werk Room TV and begins to talk to Coco, saying her time might not be
over on the show and she could still have a chance to 'Return for her
Revenge'.
